Tigers Off Season Program

PRE-SEASON TIGERS ACADEMY

Each season in January and February we run the Pre-Season Tigers AFL Academy for our under 11 to under 15 age groups.

The sessions include a mix of fitness and skills work, planned and run by our amazing club coaches, and we also bring in specialist skills, conditioning and tackle coaches to run drills.

The program is not only fantastic from a skills and conditioning perspective, but is also a way for the club to come together in the lead up to the season.  It gives coaches and players across age groups the opportunity to connect, share knowledge and this builds a strong club culture.

About The Speed Team by Mike Misson

The Speed Team provides a comprehensive sprinting program through quality coaching and professional service. It aims to benefit children aged between 6-18 years old, both boys and girls who participate in team and individual sports.

Mike Misson has had experience working with the Sydney Swifts netball team, various professional rugby teams in the UK, Tennis Australia, the NSW women’s cricket team, North Sydney Bears, Sturm Graz (Austrian soccer team), numerous corporate clients and various schools in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

He believes that good sprinting technique starts at a young age. You can have children with natural ability, but after a while this isn’t enough. To make it further and have an edge over your opponents you need to be taught proper technique and good habits.

Speed can make a difference in any sport. There is no substitute for it and it can’t be defended against. It’s an understated asset that can be the spring board for any sporting success.

About the Aish Football Academy & Jesse Aish

The Aish Football Academy operates in Adelaide and Sydney. The academy develops players of all different skill levels, supporting them to be the best players and people they can be.

The Sydney arm of the Academy is led by Jesse Aish, a former SANFL player with the Norwood Football Club, and is supported by Adelaide head coach and AFL Hall of Famer, father Michael Aish.

The Aish Academy works with clubs around the Sydney Harbour and also hosts training camps during the school holidays. Players are grouped with other players at a higher skill level to challenge them in different ways which fast tracks their development. Players who are new to the game and may need technical help with their skills are coached to eliminate bad habits and teach them the correct techniques at a young age.

Every player involved in the Aish Academy is heavily invested in and is given individual feedback to help them fast track their improvement.

We are proud to see some of the athletes who have spent time with the Aish Academy in Sydney see recent success, with Caiden Cleary drafted to the Sydney Swans and Dom Carruthers to the Western Bulldogs in the AFLW. Both these players spent time in skills training with Jesse before being picked up in the AFL system.
